Hive Creative Challenge - 4th of JULY SCRAPBOOK LAYOUTS

I created these layouts for my monthly scrapbooking workshop and TheHive Creative Challenge using the Fanfare Level 1 kit. They are the two pages that everyone who attends one of my Workshops in July will be making the night of the workshop. Everything is supplied, except you will need to bring your favorite adhesive and scissors.

I created the background of the top half of this layout by randomly stamping on a piece of white cardstock. The stamp sets used to create the background, click on their links to see all the stamps in the sets: CONNECTIONS (D1330) and SUMMER DAYS (B1375)

A tutorial on how I make the red bunting (pictured above) are included close to the end of this post.

I love how the pinwheels turned out. I will do a tutorial on how I made these later. I used the following stamp sets to make the pinwheels, click on their links to see all the stamps in the sets: Hit The Spot (C1406) and Brilliant Backgrounds (D1251) this set is retired.

Following are the 4 premade/printed pages and 2 12"x6" sheets of cardstock stickers included in this workshop.....

TUTORIAL for making the BUNTING.....

Supplies: 2" Scallop Circle Punch, Embossing Tool, 12" Paper Trimmer, cardstock, Sanding Block, scissors

I punched 3 scallop circles using our 2" Scallop Circle Punch. I own a lot of punches and I must say this is the easiest punch to use. You press the lever down with ease and it punches like butter!!! No kidding it is really that easy!

Next, I used my 12" Trimmer to emboss the lines on the scallop circles. Line up the top and bottom between the scallops through the center of the scalloped circle with the groove in the 12" trimmer. Emboss the line in the groove using the Embossing Stylus tool. You will have to hold the scallop circle securely with one had to keep it from moving while you are embossing the lines. Continue around the circle until lines have been embossed between all of the scallops.

Turn the embossed scalloped circle to the side where the lines are raised on the cardstock. Then, sand the embossed (raised) lines. I used my sanding block from the CTMH Sanding Kit. The above photo shows the lines partially sanded, so that you can see what the lines looked like before and after sanding.

Last of all, cut the scallop circle in half. Now you are ready to attach them to your layout!
