MY FAVORITE CARDS THIS YEAR

This was a card that our nephew, Rodney and his family sent, sent us for Christmas. The Snowman is made from felt, nose is foam, trees are siver pipe cleaners/chenille stems, birdies are felt and cardstick, felt hat, ribbon scarf, glitter snow, foam hat with ribbon band on hat, black gems for mouth & eyes. Lots of bling on this card. I am a bling kind of girl, LOL!!!!

This card is from my friends, Cindy Echtinaw. I LOVE this card. I think it is called a Z fold card because it folds up like he shape of the letter "Z". The joy lookes like it was really stitched!!! It was a few days after I got the card before I realized that it was stamped. the "O" in "Joy" is a button.

I took this quiz and I wanted to share my results with you, but before I do that I want to tell you to be sure to read this entire post to find out about a random drawing I am going to have on January 1st to give away something cool! Maybe a stamp set? We'll see.

Okay, back to the quiz.....Well, I took this quiz and guess what I am......

You are GLUE!You are the adhesive that keeps things together. You go through life helping others. You stick to people and try to keep people together. You like it best when you are surrounded by people and able to help them. But Glue Beware - in your efforts to keep everyone together and with you, you sometimes overlook yourself and find it hard to keep yourself together. Don't neglect personal time in your overwhelming need to socialize and help others.
Click on this link and find out What Scrapbooking Item Are You? Then, come back to my blog and leave a comment on this post telling us what you are. I will have a drawing from all of those that take the quiz and post their answer here for something FREE from me! Hmmm, wonder what it will be? I have not decided yet, but I promise you will not be disappointed!!! I will have to take a looksie to see what extra stamp sets and paper packs I have on hand.
Okay, go take the quiz and come back here to post your answer. I will post the winner on January 1st!
UPDATE:
This drawing is offically closed. I put all of the names in a basket and Rebecca drew a name from the basket for me and the winner is.....Crystal Williams! Yay Crystal! I will get your FREE gift to you right away.

A SAVIOR JUST THE SAME

Last night, Milton and Rebecca went out for dinner and upon their return home discovered a Brown Thrasher had gotten stuck in a mouse sticky trap. It was stuck from head to toe on one whole side of its body.

Milton picked up the trap with the bird and brought it in the house and yelled "Mom! We have an emergency here!" The tone of his voice said something was really wrong. I jumped up from scrapbooking, my heart was racing, and ran into the kitchen to find him holding this bird, helplessly stuck to the mouse trap. My first thought was "Thank You God! Nothing is wrong with my children."

Then, my attention went to the bird. I said, "Son, I don't think there is anything we can do, except put him out of his misery." He said, "NO. We are not going to kill this bird. I am going to get him off of this trap." He filled a bowl with warm soapy water and worked very carefully for hours to free the little helpless bird. He finally had to clip the feathers on one of his wings. After hours of working very patiently, he freed the bird from the trap. Then, he clipped the feathers from his other wing. The bird looked so pitiful with glue still on one side of his body and one of his eyes glued shut. Milton took his time and continued cleaning as much of the glue as possible from the bird and was even able to get the bird's eye open that was glued shut.

While Milton was taking great care to save this little bird's life, Rebecca (his wife) had cleaned a bird cage that we had stored in the utility building and had gotten it ready for the bird. Once the bird was finally cleaned, as well as possible, they put the bird into the cage, along with water and bird food.

Later, Milton decided he wanted to take the bird out of the cage and hold it. The bird did not try to peck him when he took him from the cage. He held the bird and stroked its feathers and let the bird lie on his chest. It snuggled up to his face and slept a while and then suddenly decided it was "time." He made a break for freedom. He jumped down and took off down the hall. He was moving with lightening speed, running, jumping, and flapping his little clipped off wings. He made it to the living room and was jetting all over the place trying desperately to keep from being put into captivity again. Milton took a hand towel and tossed it over the little guy and gently picked him up and put him back in his cage where he has been since.

He seems to be adjusting to his new home quite well. He woke Milton and Rebecca up this morning with a beatutiful song. He has taken a bath in his water dish and played in his food. As soon as his wings grow back he will be set free again. Milton did not save an entire world from their sins, like Jesus did, but to the little bird he is still a savior just the same.

ALL DECKED OUT

I made this two page layout (which I scrap-lifted) using part of the Aspen Level 2 Paper Pack (X7103B), All Decked Out stamp set (D1308), Feathery Flakes stamp set (D1317), Outdoor Denium stamp pad (Z2140), Creme Brulee stamp pad (Z2167), Orange Exclusive Inks Marker (Z2338), Outdoor Denium marker (Z2340), Navy grosgrain ribbon, Outdoor Denium Bigger Brad (Z297), Outdoor Denium eyelets (Z151), Sanding Kit (Z1294), Liquid Applique (Z308).

This layout was scrap lifted from Debbie Taylor with MINOR changes. Debbie designed this layout for a swap that my up-line participated in. I chose not to put ribbons in the center of the second layout like Debbie did on hers because I wanted to leave more room for my pictures and journaling, but hers looked great with the ribbons too. Thank you Debbie!!! I had so much fun doing this layout for my album and can't wait to put pictures on it!

On this page, I used the ScorPal to make the score lines and then lightly sanded them with the Sanding kit to make the background behind the snowman. I used Liquid Applique for the snow under the snowman and on his hat.

Click on the pictures to view larger image.
These layouts are not part of my monthly workshop. We use the Level 1 Kits for the monthly workshop. I made these to put in my own personal scrapbook.
